“The American Hotel is a breathtaking hotel on the main street of Sharon Springs NY. Vintage furnishings, gourmet breakfast and dinner selections, a friendly bartender pouring your favorite drink, and welcoming owners are part of your experience here. The landscaped back lawn and massive front porch give you a chance to breathe in the country air while washing away stress. Michael and Marco, the owners gave us tips on things to do in the area and provided a bit of history about their hotel. Lee the chef created flavorful dinners, including schnitzel with cabbage and homemade noodles, and a wide selection of beef, fish, shellfish and chicken entrees. The rooms are filled with wood antiques and elegant period furnishings. Parking is available, and an accessible ramp makes it easy to transport luggage from your car. Reasonable prices, friendly service and attention to all of your needs makes it an easy choice for a getaway. Families and groups are welcome. It’s on our list for the best getaway experience.”

“I had the most magical long weekend in Sharon Springs with my girlfriends. We stayed at The American hotel and would recommend to anyone visiting this quaint town. The hotel is charming and cozy and the restaurant and bar are an added bonus. We had their breakfast every morning—absolutely wonderful. We also dined there for 2 dinners. Coming from the DMV I can assure you the crab cakes are authentic and delicious. The standout dish though is the mushroom ragout (pictured). Well developed flavors that just melt in your mouth. The lounge area around the fire stove is warm and welcoming—we spent a lot of our time there mingling with other guests. Last but not least, the staff is incredible. Mike, Marco, Linda, and Chris are so hospitable and truly made the stay fabulous. Looking forward to our next visit!”

“Professional staff and beautiful venue. Made an impromptu stop by and we were greeted with warmth and kindness by owner Michael, who went the extra mile to make our short visit very pleasurable. Friendly atmosphere, sparkling cocktails, fabulous and comfortable decor. They have splendid rooms too and periodic open days for locals to tour rooms and a community get together night. Can't wait to come back for dinner. Photo is of the bar and breakfast area with a cosy fireplace, comfy furniture with entrance to the picturesque garden with tables outside.”

“We had a fabulous weekend stay @ the American Hotel. It was a great quiet weekend; we enjoyed the stove in the pub area as it was cozy! we only wish it were a bit nicer to be able to take full advantage of their front porch and backyard oasis - next time we'll return when it's a bit warmer! Michael and Marco were welcoming hosts and are relatively new owners of this historic place. We had our included breakfast and dinner and brunch here - all were delicious and fresh. We also enjoyed walking around town checking out all the places and reading the historical signs - we started doing research on the history of this quirky little town!”

“Had a scrumptious and enjoyable dinner at the American Hotel Restaurant last night. The crab cake entree was packed full a fresh Maryland crab. And to my surprise the farm fresh green beans were perfection … more than just a typical side. Honestly… the most delicious green beans I’ve ever eaten. Service was wonderful too. Props to our wonderful server Al. Definitely recommend!!”
